Hardscaping in Cumberland County, Maine

Hardscaping

A patio or walkway is only as good as what is under it. We build hardscape on a properly compacted base so it stays level through the freeze and thaw of a Maine winter, with pavers or natural stone chosen to match your home.

What we build

We design and install hardscape that adds usable outdoor space and lasting value.

  • Paver and natural stone patios
  • Walkways and garden paths
  • Retaining walls that hold grade and create level space

Built on a base that lasts

Frost heave is what cracks and tilts cheap hardscape. We build the way it should be done.

  • Compacted gravel base for stability
  • Geotextile fabric to separate soil and base
  • Proper pitch so water drains away, not toward the house

Frequently asked questions

Will a paver patio survive Maine winters?

Yes, when it is built correctly. We excavate to depth, lay a compacted gravel base with geotextile fabric, and pitch the surface for drainage so the patio stays level through freeze and thaw.

Pavers or natural stone — which is better?

Both last when installed properly. Pavers offer consistent sizing and a wide range of styles; natural stone gives a one-of-a-kind look. We will walk you through the trade-offs and pricing for your project.

Do I need a retaining wall?

If you have a slope you want to level, soil that is washing out, or grade you need to hold back, a retaining wall is often the right fix. We assess the site and recommend the right height and material.
